Ignite Leadership Academy Program

Empowering Women and Girls to discover their Extraordinary selves through education and mentoring in leadership development, and technology, preparing them both academically and professionally.

Students receive hands-on training in their community- story mapping to understand how this technology can create positive change in their communities and the world. This specialized program focuses on teaching fundamental GIS skills, including storytelling with mapping data points, building maps, identifying trends, and forecasting future outcomes, including, demographic and environmental changes. Students are challenged to develop a project that will improve the environment in their communities

we have collaborated with the Mapping Black California Initiative. Their alliance with Esri, a global leader in geographic information system (GIS), gives SOEW the ability to expose our students to cutting edge GIS technology and the use of spatial analytics to aid in solving community, and global issues.

Conversation Salon Series

This event is designed to bring together community leaders, professionals, educators, and technologists across cultures to share ideas and innovations that impact their communities and the world. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with extraordinary individuals, learn about cutting-edge technology, explore unique art exhibits.  Meet Shirley Coates, President/CEO

As a successful business woman and entrepreneur, Shirley is committed to mentoring to young women and helping them to achieve their goals in every aspect of their lives. She is the founder and president of Society of Extraordinary Women Inc a non-profit organization whose mission is to elevate the capacity of under-served women and young girls by encouraging and fostering skills necessary to serve as leaders in  all industries, and embracing the total woman- Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Utilizing her past experience in the corporate world and civic involvement, her commitment and passion led her to start the Society of Extraordinary Women, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization comprised of  a group of diverse individuals committed to making a difference in the live of young women, and girls, and making a positive impact their communities.

Shirley has been a guest lecturer at several high schools and universities, including, the University of California-Los Angeles, and the Pepperdine University Lectureship Series.  She speaks on such topics as: Effective Sales Techniques, How to Run a Successful Small Business, Overcoming Life’s Adversities, and “Be the Star in Your Show,” a workshop for business owners and sales professionals.  She provides customer service and sales training for several small businesses, banks, and mortgage companies.   She is active in her community, and an active member of the Riverside Chamber of Commerce where she was honored in 2010 by receiving the Ambassador of the Year. She has received numerous awards for her leadership, and community involvement.

Her core values are: Passion, Professionalism and, Purpose.
